Anna Lauren Oberfeld was born in Cleveland, Ohio. In 2013 Oberfeld was selected for the Maryland Institute College of Art’s honors program in Florence Italy, where she attended SACI. In addition to her studio work she studied art history, conservation, and museum studies. In 2014, she graduated Cum Laude from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, with a B.F.A. in General Fine Art and a concentration in Photography. Oberfeld then went on to graduate from the Edinburgh College of Art in 2016 with an M.F.A. in Contemporary Art Practice. In 2018 she was working as an artist and designer in Midreshet Ben-Gurion, in the heart of the Negev Desert, Israel. in 2021 Oberfeld finally moved back home to the United States where she is living and working in New York City.
